Saturday Swim Session

With a triathlon only a few weeks away I thought it’s a good idea that I start taking my swim training a little more seriously – during the winter months even though the pool was heated and the temperature reached the 20’s I was hesitant and lazy. This morning I hit the pool before breakfast and it was fantastic. Luckily the local pool is only a five minute drive from my house and when I got there half the pool was empty. I jumped in and managed a thirty minute session consisting of a 400m freestyle warm up, 8 x 50m freestyle, 2 x 100m freestyle and finished off with 200m breaststroke. It’s not much but it’s a good start. The point of the swim this morning was to guage my ability to swim the 400m without drowning. Fortunately, I managed. It’s going to be a different story in open water but I’m hoping to do some training in open water next week and again the week before the triathlon.

The rest of the day was filled with shopping and baking. I sometimes get in the mood for baking and today I made a tiramisu and choc-coffee cupcakes. Yummy!
