Week in Review: Jarek’s Fun Run

On Sunday, Jarek had his first fun run for 2014. 8km Sports Super Centre. The Progressive Series build up towards the Gold Coast Airport Marathon in July. This year this is probably the only race that he’ll be able to do as he starts a new job in two weeks which will involve working weekends. It’s a good opportunity and great hours as he’ll be finished by 1:30pm and have two days mid week off.

Jarek managed a 4 minute PB. I’m stoked for him and a little bit jealous. We had a friend’s 30th the night before and lets just say he guzzled down more than a few beers, had five hours of sleep and still managed to run four minutes faster than his last 8km. Umm what the?

I’m wondering, did he have more energy from the beer or did he just want the run to be over and done with quicker?

His new PB for the 8km is 36:48:06. Awesome work.

I sat this one out and was the supportive partner snapping pictures. I missed a couple as he was faster than we both anticipated.

Training
Tue 18/2 – 20 min walk (1.5km)
Wed 19/2 – 30 min walk (2.85km)
Thu 20/2 – Rest
Fri  21/2 – 15 min weights
Sat 22/2 – 23 min run (3km)
Sun 23/2 – 40 min walk (3km) + 30 min yoga
Mon 24/2 – 15 min weights + 33 min walk (2.9km)

Training has become more focused on walking and trying to make the effort to do some weights, yoga and running. Although the running has become a run/walk. This pattern is probably going to continue as my pregnancy progresses. I’m dealing with that and as long as I stay somewhat active for the last trimester. Some weeks are going to be more active than others, I’m ok with that. I’m listening to my body, it seems to know best.
