Bruised and Battered

I feel like I’ve been in a fight… my body bruised, battered and beaten. And it was just several friendly games of touch football in the sun. Today I’m feeling it much worse than yesterday, my head feels like it’s on fire and the migraine has not ceased since yesterday. Each body part hurts when I move and this is something I did not anticipate. This morning I could not wear my high heels because my tibialis muscle was being stretched to great discomfort. I left work before lunchtime today, came home and slept. The pounding in my head has subsided but the aches and pains remain. Even the soles of my feet are hurting.

The muscle pain will cease within a few days. The bruises will disappear. The scratches will heal. My main concern is the tibialis muscle. The Cool Night Classic 5km Fun Run is on this Thursday – I’m signed up with about eighty other people from my work to run it. There is the option of walking it but that would be disappointing for me. Then there’s the Gatorade Series Triathlon in Robina that I’m supposed to be doing Sunday morning. If pain persists doing either of these is going to be difficult.

My scheduled Monday run is off. I’m going to do some light stretching instead and go for a walk in the evening and hope my body and mind are in a better state tomorrow.
