First 10km

Waiting at the starting line
a gorgeous morning for a run
I’m very excited to say that my mum ran her first 10km race today! And, she did an awesome job too! She’s always been active and doing lots of power walking, a bit of weights and some Pilates, but hasn’t really run since her school days back in the day. The decision to do the 10km at the Gold Coast Marathon weekend was a quick spur of the moment one and well worth it. She and her friend had a fantastic morning running with almost 7000 others and doing much better than they hoped for (there’s even thoughts of doing another one in a few months). For the time being they have decided to continue meeting once or twice a week and adding more running to their walk/run routine, but both agree that running with thousands of others is much more motivational than running on their own. The official time was 1:20:45, and her net time was 1:14:48!
Great job Mum! I hope to see you race again soon.
