Training in Review

Mon –
Rest. I felt like my body needed it. Strangely my quads were really sore today after yesterday’s 10km race.
Tue –
PM: 15min weights + 25 min yoga
I wanted to go to the gym at lunchtime but I felt like crap all morning at work so thought it was bet to give it a miss. The yoga challenge started today so I eased into it.
Wed –
PM:15min run (2.65k)
PM: 30min walk (2k) + 25min yoga
The run at lunchtime was short but for some reason I still didn’t have much energy. I got out there though and gave it a go. I was a bit off again this morning at work and was ready to go home sick, but then we had a morning tea (we have them when staff have birthdays and everyone brings something in) funnily enough though the sugar hit did make me feel better. And then in the evening I talked Jarek into going for a power walk with me. I don’t like walking around at night on my own. (By the way, the first PM is a lunchtime workout and second is the evening.)
I did include a few carrots to be good…

Thu –
PM: 25min run (4.54k)
PM: 15min walk (1.04k) + 30 min yoga
I just realised that the yoga challenge asks for a commitment of 30 minutes per day. Silly me, I should have read it more carefully.
Fri –
Rest (I was slack and I feel really really bad for not doing any yoga). We watched a dvd, Breaking Dawn, drank a cheap bottle of wine and indulged in crackers with brie cheese and two dips – pesto and chilli parmesan.
Sat –
AM: 52min swim (2.2k) + 80min beach run – barefoot (12.85k)
PM: 21min walk (1.6k) + 30min yoga (I’m very excited, I bought my first book on yoga today, yay!)
The barefoot run on the beach felt really good today. We held a fairly steady pace around the 5:35-5:50 per km for most of the run, with a couple slower km when we had to go over a large hill. Unfortunately, Jarek hurt his foot and so we stopped earlier than planned. It’s a little better today but he probably won’t be able to run for several days.
The view at Miami hill on the Gold Coast, the weather this weekend was perfect for the beach
Sun –
AM – wanted to train but my head was throbbing, gotta love the post run migraines. I’ve been getting them after a long run in the sun the day before. I need to aim to fit in my runs either in the early morning or in the late afternoon and ensure that I stay hydrated properly.
PM – 70 min cycle on the windtrainer (24k) + 30 min yoga
I couldn’t not train. I’ve been spending too little time on the bike so it felt good to cycle for over an hour today.
Overall, I’m fairly pleased with this week’s training, especially during the weekend. Tomorrow’s a public holiday in QLD but whilst most people have it off I’m going to work due to the stockmarket being open. Instead I’m having a day off in lieu on Wednesday so hopefully that will be another pleasing training day, fingers crossed.
