Training in Review + New Shoes!

Mon 28.5
10 min yoga
Monday & Fridays are going to be optional rest days from now on. I can train but I don’t have to. It kind of puts the pressure off training everyday and feeling guilty if something arises in my personal life that requires attention and time. Plus it means that my body is ready to work extra hard at the weekend!

Tue 29.5
20 min yoga
20 min run (3.2km)
I was testing a new pair of Brooks runners I purchased last weekend on the treadmill at lunchtime. I had high hopes but was disappointed and returned the shoes a couple days later.

the effects of the last few rainy days at our local park

Wed 30.5
20 min weights
I’m not sure what happened here but I was planning on cycling in the evening but I got home, head dinner and visitors so that kind of didn’t happen.

Thu 31.5
20 min yoga
27 min run (5km)
These short runs are usually done in my lunch hour across the road from my work and are usually focused on intervals. Today it was a 10 minute warm up at 10km/hr, followed by 1min @ 13.5km/hr & 2min @ 11km/hr repeated 5 times.

Fri 1.6
15 min yoga
It’s only fifteen minutes but it makes me feel so good before heading off to work

New shoes! New Balance, yeah, yeah, finally I found a pair…

Sat 2.6
116 min run (20km)
Awesome beach run, I’m hoping to make this long one a regular part of my training. Fingers crossed!
I’m also really excited, I bought running shoes today. New Balance. They were comfortable from the moment I slipped my feet into them. Hopefully, it will be the same once I start running them in on Tuesday. Yoga and/or Pilates were on the agenda but somehow the day flew by and my head hit the pillow at 8:30pm.

Kola enjoying her afternoon stroll…finally it stopped
raining and we’ve a sunny week ahead

Sun 3.6
90 min cycle (30.2km)
30 min walk
Yeah, yeah it felt good to cycle today. Sweat was dripping down me, cycling on the windtrainer is a tough workout, and so much easier when you’re watching a film. Today’s feature was The A-Team. I have to say, I love watching silly action films especially when I’m doing something more productive at the same time. Gotta love multitasking.
