Endomondo

Thanks to Endomondo, I got out of bed this morning at 5am and went cycling. For me to do that before work is not always easy but as soon as the alarm went off, my eyes were wide open and I was checking the weather outside to ensure it wasn’t raining. Nope, it was a perfectly calm morning perfect for a cycling. Ten minutes later I was out the door trying out my new application on my Iphone.

I wasn’t always keen on these sorts of applications, I wasn’t convinced that they would actually motivate me to work out. But they do. Endomondo, heart rate monitors, new workout clothes or equipment. I suppose you got to use what works. Gotta say though, Endomondo rocks.

Today, while cycling my Iphone sat in my back pocket and tracked my route, pace, distance, elevation and time. For a free application I think that’s great. I actually couldn’t wait to get off the bike to see the results.

The benefits of these types of applications are many and vary from user to user. For me, it will give me a better idea of how hard or how slack I am with my workouts. It will keep a more accurate record than I ever would and it’s going to keep me training more regularly because I have other people seeing my profile and my workouts.

Today’s workout results are:
Distance: 10.85km
Duration: 32 minutes
Avg Speed: 20.28k/hr
Max Speed: 27.02k/hr
Calories: 307 cal
