Training in Review

Big plans for this week. Train every day, run hard at the 5km Cool Night Classic, and have a strong training day on Friday to be followed by a relaxing weekend of doing absolutely nothing if that’s what I chose. I almost managed most of it too. While the Cool Night Classic didn’t bring a PB I was happy with the 5km run. The first few kilometre or so involved dodging other runners and then it was smooth sailing, at least until I got to the uphills. They weren’t very steep but I felt them. Note to self, add hill training to the weekly routine!

Mon 29/10
PM: 30 min spin (16.4km)

Tue 30/10
PM: 30 min run (5.47km)

Wed 31/10
AM: 30 min swim (1.4km)
PM: 30 min spin (16.4km)

Thu 1/11
PM: 5km Cool Night Classic Fun Run in 24:24!

Fri 2/11
AM: 38min swim (2km) + 60 min cycle (20km)
I was really happy with the swim today. The 70.3 involves a 1.9km swim and I would really like to do it in sub 40mins. Having swum 2km in < 40 feels great and has given me the confidence that with a few more weeks of training I should be able to achieve my goal. Sat 3/11

PM: 20 min walk

Sun 4/11
PM: 20 min walk

Bring on the new week. I’m relaxed and rested and ready to do another four solid weeks of training followed by two easier ones just before the big race. With six weeks to go there’s still so much to do.
