Baking, Cursing and Relaxing

With more free time I’ve also got the baking bug. I feel like baking something every day. It’s fun though not the best thing for the wobbly bits around my tummy. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll be over it soon but until then I’ll make the most of the satisfaction I get from baking. The good thing is though that I eat a slice and I’m over it, my family eats the rest. So far I’ve baked double choc cookies, a cheesecake brownie and tonight afer dinner I had the urge to bake a double chocolate cake. All the recipes are from a Donna Hay cookbook that has everything chocolate. Yummy!

A bit of relaxation has also been on the menu. I can’t believe how much I’ve been chilling out over the past couple of weeks. I’m making up for all the hard work over the past few years. When I start working things will go back to normal. Yesterday, my partner, brother and I drove down to Byron Bay which is a little beach town about half an hour south of the QLD/NSW border. There’s a mixed crowd of surfies and trend setters, and the town is becoming a popular place to visit for the weekend to get away from the city. It was so nice to just chill out at the beach, run around, walk the trails, and muck around. All round it was an active day enjoyed by all.

Today I tried Zumba for the first time. I didn’t like it. Yep, I know there’s lots of people who love the class but I just don’t get it. If I want to dance I’m going to hit the clubs. I just didn’t feel my heart rate go up and I couldn’t get into it. I’ll take a run, spin class or a tough weights session any day but Zumba, well it just isn’t for me. Then, we stayed for a yoga session. That was fantastic. The instructor’s voice was so calming that I relaxed completely. Some of the poses were difficult but felt great to do. I walked out feeling light, relaxed and ready to take on the day.

Viruses attacked my computer the day before I had to submit an assignment. Typical. It’s not the first time and it ain’t going to be the last. It seems that each time a due date rolls around my laptop decides to get infected with something or other. I should be used to it by now and be in the habit of backing everything up. Well, I haven’t done that. Fortuately, I’ve managed to hold on to all the important data (photos!) but my laptop is still playing up. It seems to have a cold that just won’t go away. I’m almost ready to trade up for a Mac. I’ve been cursing my computer all week.

  1. Byron is a lovely place to chill out, in spite of all the tourists it’s easy enough to find somewhere mellow there! Love the shot of you kicking! better than Zumba i guess 🙂
